The completely automatic dialysis system
1.Complete automatic priming with back-filtration dialysate
After setting the dialyzer and blood circuit, connect a coupler and press the button; automatic priming using 4 L of back-filtration dialysate will be performed.
2.Automatic blood removal
Puncture the blood removal and blood return sides and connect the dialyzer to the blood circuit; blood removal is performed at both sides at the same time by pressing the button, and the dialysate filled in the circuit is removed through the dialyzer. Dialysis treatment automatically starts after a certain amount of blood is removed.
3.Rapid fluid replacement
With the push of a button, back-filtration dialysate can be replaced into the blood circuit, enabling quick response in the event of sudden changes.
4.Automatic blood return
When dialysis is completed, the back-filtration dialysate is automatically sent from the dialysis console, hemodia filter, and then to blood circuit; the blood then returns to the blood removal and blood return sides to complete the dialysis. The staff only has to remove the needle.
The above system makes it easier for the staff to standardize the procedures and operations as well as to avoid various dangers such as medical accidents, contact infections, and human errors. In addition, this improves the work efficiency, and we can have sufficient time to take care of our patients.
Dialysis fluid purification
As the back-filtration dialysate directly enters the body, purified dialysate is required. At all Tokiwakai facilities, live bacterial and endotoxin tests are conducted every month, and we achieve the water quality standards for ultrapure water dialysate.
The following measures are undertaken to obtain a clean dialysate:
- Peracetic acid sterilization: hypochlorous acid disinfection daily: thrice a week
- Endotoxin retrieve filters are installed on all dialysate supply systems and dialyzers
Online HDF
Online HDF is a hemodiafiltration method (HDF) that uses ultrapure water dialysate as a replacement fluid, and it can be replaced with a larger amount of dialysate than the conventional HDF.
This makes it possible to remove substances that are difficult to remove with normal hemodialysis, and there is also an improvement in the unpleasant symptoms associated with dialysis such as bone pain, joint pain, itching, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, anorexia, and renal anemia.
Based on the following three points, Tokiwakai Group aims for a dialysis method that causes less complication: complete automatic dialysis system, ultrapure water dialysate, and online HDF.
