Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, the birthplace of Tokiwakai Group, was once a city rich in coal mines. “Ichizan Ikka” is a term that was born based on the idea that all people and involved in the coal mines are family members, including the coal miners as well as their families. It is thought that they are connected with a strong sense of solidarity.
These days a lack of communication even among the family members is an issue of concern. There is a shortage of doctors and nurses in Iwaki City, this issue is becoming more serious after the earthquake; furthermore, there is anxiety regarding medical care and nursing care due to aging in addition to anxiety regarding child care due to the effects of radiation. Thus, presently, we are facing many problems.
